Ongar and District Community Association Events
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open Day on April 12th. It was wonderful to welcome so many visitors, and the newly refurbished Ballroom received lots of compliments. Several of our regular hirers showcased their clubs and activities, with plenty of interest from those attending — perhaps you even discovered a new activity to try!
Many of our visitors were delighted discover and explore the Concert Hall upstairs, as they were unaware it even existed! The History of Budworth Hall display by the Ongar Millennium History Society, in the museum area of the bar, was visited by lots of attendees, who found the collection of historic documents and photographs most fascinating. Thanks to OMHS for putting on, and manning, the display.

Other News and Updates
Many of you had been asking about the Budworth Hall clock, which had sadly been malfunctioning for months. Hopefully you have noticed that it has now been repaired and is once again keeping the correct time for us all.
Unfortunately, there was a slight delay in completing the installation of the stairlift from the ballroom to the bar and entrance level due to an unforeseen issue. Hopefully by the time this is published the installation will be finished and the stairlift operational. As with any building as old and historic as Budworth Hall, unexpected challenges sometimes arise — but we’re working hard to overcome them!
The Ongar and District Community Association (ODCA) is run entirely by volunteers — and we’d love for you to join our team! Whether you can help serve tea at our senior events or contribute your time and skills in other ways, every bit makes a difference. You don’t need to be on the committee — simply becoming a “Friend of Budworth Hall” is a great way to get involved. If you’re interested, please get in touch! We’d love to hear from you.

The Budworth Hall office is closed, but the Ballroom, Concert Hall, Committee Room, and Bar Area are available for hire 7 days a week at competitive rates. For enquiries, please email budworthhall-ongar@outlook.com with your name, telephone number, and enquiry details. If you have no access to email, you can call us on 07918 462959, and leave a message. Someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

The onsite Coffee Bar and Restaurant is run by Nerissa and Claire and is open Tuesday to Saturday.
