Ongar and District Community Association Events
Due to the early submission date for January’s article, I am unable to report on our December events which were The Comedy Club Night and our Christmas Celebration with Phoenix Radio Open Mic singers. I will report on them in February. However, if you attended any of our December events, we hope that you enjoyed them.
Other News and Updates
A year ago, we embarked on an extensive and expensive refurbishment of the ballroom. We were delighted with the results, and in April we held an Open Day to showcase the transformation. We received many compliments then and continue to hear positive feedback from those who hire the ballroom for their special events and celebrations.
The entrance hall, lobby, and bar have now been decorated in the same colours as the ballroom, completing the overall theme. Our next project will be the refurbishment of our wonderful sprung ballroom floor. Air conditioning for the ballroom is also on our wish list. Although it is a significant investment, I’m sure you would all agree that it would be a tremendous asset.
The ODCA is run entirely by volunteers, and we are always grateful for any additional help. You don’t need to commit to becoming a committee member — you can simply join us as a “Friend of Budworth Hall.” If you have a skill which you feel could benefit us, or if you’d simply like to help in any way because you love Budworth Hall, please let us know. It would be great to have a list of “willing helpers” to call on when needed.

Hire and Contact details
The Ballroom, Concert Hall, Committee Room, and Bar Area are available for hire 7 days a week at competitive rates. For enquiries, please email budworthhall-ongar@outlook.com with your name, telephone number, and enquiry details. Please only telephone us on 07918 462959 if you have no access to email and leave a message. Someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

The onsite Coffee Bar and Restaurant is run by Nerissa and Claire and is open Tuesday to Saturday.
