Ongar and District Community Association Events
Our last Comedy Club Night on December 6th, 2024, was another sell-out success. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped our volunteers by using the bins for litter and bottles. It really cut down on the time we had to spend clearing up.
The next Comedy Club Night is on March 7th, 2025. Don’t miss it! Book your tickets today at www.laughingchili.co.uk (scroll down to find Ongar) or through the link on our website. Doors and bar open at 7:30 PM, with the show starting at 8:30 PM.
Our other December events—the Senior Social Afternoon Tea and our Christmas Celebration in collaboration with Phoenix 98 FM Radio’s Open Mic—were both well attended and thoroughly enjoyed. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and to those who worked behind the scenes to make these events such a success.
There will be no ODCA events during January and February 2025, due to the ballroom refurbishment, but mark your calendars for our next Tea Dance on Thursday, March 6th, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Other News and Updates
Refurbishment update – We are thrilled to announce that the refurbishment of our ballroom is officially underway! The transformation is set to be completed by March, and we look forward to sharing the new and improved space with you all. To celebrate, we are planning to hold a “Re-opening Event.” This will be an opportunity for everyone to come together, celebrate, and experience the upgraded ballroom firsthand. Keep an eye on our website, social media pages, and notice board for further information nearer the time. We look forward to seeing you there!
While the ballroom remains closed during the refurbishment, our other rooms are still available for hire. Regular hirers have been given a slightly revised timetable, using the Concert Hall, during this period. If you’re part of a group, please check with your group leader for any updates to your schedule.
Volunteering opportunities – The ODCA is run by volunteers, and we’d love for you to join our team. You don’t need to commit to being a committee member—simply becoming a “Friend of Budworth Hall” is a wonderful way to contribute. There are plenty of ways to help, from serving teas and coffee at our senior events to sharing any skills or spare time you can offer. Every little bit makes a big difference! If you’re interested in making a positive impact and being part of our community, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
Visit our website at www.budworthhall.co.uk to explore our photo gallery, learn more about the building’s history, check out regular clubs and events and news, and find out about our hire rates. You can also check our diary if you are looking to hire our facilities for your own event. You will find news of our events on our social media pages and notice board.
