Ongar and District Community Association Events
We held our Seniors’ Afternoon Tea on April 10th, but as this article had to be submitted prior to that, I will report on it next month. Our next Senior Event is planned for the 21st July. Check our website, notice boards and Facebook page for further information, which will be available nearer the time.
A final reminder that our next Comedy Club night is on May 10th. Our Comedy Club Nights are very popular, often selling out, so if you haven’t got your tickets yet you can book them at www.laughingchili.co.uk, scrolling down to find Ongar (there is also a link on our new website.) The door & bar open at 7.30pm, and the show starts at 8.30pm.
Other News and Updates
Since the new committee was formed in the summer of 2022, a number of projects have been completed at Budworth Hall. These have included: –
· Major roof repairs, a very expensive but extremely necessary task, that should now last at least 25 years
· Decorating and re-opening the bar, which now includes the History Society’s Museum and exhibition area
· Redecorating and upgrading the gents’ toilets
· New main entrance doors
· Installation of an Accessible toilet
· Redecoration of the Ladies cloakroom
We have been fortunate in obtaining grants towards some of these projects. Further major improvements are planned over the next twelve months. Watch this space for news on those!

Budworth Hall is much busier now as we are receiving more and more hire requests, as well as the many regular clubs and events which use the hall. Thanks to team member Kevin for dealing with these. We are all volunteers and are working hard to improve and upgrade Budworth Hall for the local community. If you feel you can assist, or have any skills which you think might be helpful to us, please get in touch and become a Friend of Budworth Hall. We always welcome extra help and support.

The Budworth Hall office is closed. The Ballroom, Concert Hall, Committee Room, and Bar Area are available for hire 7 days a week at competitive rates.

The onsite Coffee Bar and Restaurant is run by Nerissa and Claire and is open Tuesday to Saturday.
