Ongar and District Community Association Events
Our Seniors’ Afternoon Tea on April 10th, was yet another success. Live entertainment from Joshua and Marcella Lord was enjoyed by all, as this mother and son duo performed well loved classics and timeless tunes while everyone tucked into their tea, cakes and biscuits. Several enjoyed a good dance too! Our thanks to Joshua and Marcella for their performance. We hope you will return.
Our next afternoon event is planned for the Sunday 21st July with entertainment from local band, the Rolling Bones. Check our website, notice boards and Facebook page for further information, which will be available nearer the time.
Our last Comedy Club night was on May 10th, and was another sell out. The next one is on 16th August and then 6th December. As our Comedy Club nights nearly always sell out, if you haven’t got your ticket yet you can book them at www.laughingchili.co.uk, scrolling down to find Ongar (there is also a link on our new website.) The door and bar open at 7.30pm, and the show starts at 8.30pm.
Other News and Updates
April 17th saw the official opening of the Ongar Millenium History Society Museum which is housed in the outer bar area and includes a Timeline showing aspects of Ongar’s history, and display case with several local artefacts.
We are pleased to let you know that our newly installed Accessible toilet is now fully finished and we have received several compliments. Our Ladies cloakroom has also been redecorated. New window dressings are being investigated as the current curtains have seen better days.
We are hoping to start refurbishment of the ballroom in the new year. This will include disabled access from the ballroom to the toilets and bar. As you can imagine, such projects are expensive and complex and take a lot of planning. As we are all volunteers, these undertakings take some time, but we are all working hard to improve and upgrade Budworth Hall for the local community. Thanks to team member Kevin for dealing with all our bookings and queries, as well as managing our regular hirers and the diary. If you feel you can assist, or have any skills which you think might be helpful to us, please get in touch and become a Friend of Budworth Hall. We always welcome extra help and support.
Keep checking our new website https://www.budworthhall.co.uk, our social media pages and notice board to keep up to date with information about events being held in the hall.
