Dressmakers, crafters and home sewing enthusiasts, we have some wonderful news for you.  Those popular fabric sale days are returning to the Budworth Hall in Ongar High Street on Sunday 22 September 10am – 3pm.

“We’re delighted to be welcoming back Geoff Rosenberg of M Rosenbeg & Son Stitch Fabrics who returns to us for a series of Sunday sale dates after a few years’ break,” said Ongar and District Community Association (ODCA) Chairman, Roger Roles.

Good quality fabrics at discount prices are bound to suit all pockets and every kind of project.  Whilst the focus is on sale fabrics there will be a good selection of high-end and designer ones too plus a wide variety of all sorts in between.

Bargain sale fabrics start at just £2, £3 and £4 per metre.  At the other end of the price range, you will find finest quality Italian silks and cashmere at £60 per metre.

“There’ll be some fantastic bargains.  I go to Europe to buy many of my dress fabrics.  I also have designer names like Armani, Dolce & Gabbana and Versace.  And I’ll have some curtain fabrics too.  All fabrics are for sale at discount prices,” said Geoff Rosenberg.

Family Business

After the Second World War, Geoff’s mother and father, Maurice and Freda, started their fabric sales business.   Geoff joined his parents in the company, M Rosenberg & Son, when he left school aged 15.  Now Geoff’s daughter Jenni works in the family business, which has been going from strength to strength for more than seven decades.

Freda and Maurice started off by touring the markets of London with their fabrics.  Now the company has a warehouse in Raven Road, South Woodford and runs sale days throughout the south of England and London.  The company regularly exhibits at prestigious national shows like the Knitting and Stitching Show at London’s Alexandra Palace, The Festival of Quilts and other big events at the NEC in Birmingham and the Islington Design Centre.

“People want to be individual now.  They don’t want mass produced.  People want something different.  I’ve been selling fabric all my life.  It’s in my blood and I do it for the love of it,” added Geoff.
